The present invention relates to parenteral and enteral multivitamin preparations to be administered in liquid form and representing a reduced source of peroxides. Peroxide generation in multivitamin preparations is believed to be due to the interaction of riboflavin and ascorbate in the presence of light. More specifically, the present invention relates to parenteral and enteral multivitamin preparations to be administered in liquid form and comprising two distinct phases in order to keep the riboflavin separate from the ascorbate up to a molar ratio of no more than 1:10,000 between the riboflavin and ascorbate concentrations until the time of parenteral or enteral administration.
