The invention relates to a process for the alcaline oxidative degradation of an ose, an ulose, polymers or mixtures thereof in aqueous solution and in the presence of a redox couple comprised of a mixture of monosulfonic anthraquinone-2-acid and of hydrogen peroxide, characterized in that the oxidant gas is air and said air is stirred up and introduced into the reaction medium in agitation flow rate conditions and such that the dissolved oxygen saturation of the reaction medium gives a pink coloration of said reaction medium.

L'invention concerne un procédé de dégradation oxydative alcaline d'un ulose, d'un ulose, de leurs polymères ou de leurs mélanges en solution aqueuse et en présence d'un couple rédox constitué par un mélange d'acide-2-anthraquinone et de peroxyde d'hydrogène, caractérisé par le fait que le gaz oxydant est de l'air et que cet air est brassé et introduit dans le milieu réactionnel dans des conditions d'agitation et à un débit tels que la saturation en oxygène dissous du milieu réactionnel conduise à l'obtention d'une coloration rose de ce milieu réactionnel.
