A composition having an agent adapted to affect a multimeric protein by binding to a binding site thereof and thereby affecting an equilibrium of units, the multimeric protein has an assembly having a plurality of said units, each of the units has a first complementary surface and a second complementary surface and the first complementary surface of one unit is associated with the second complementary surface of another unit, provided that the assembly is at least one of different quaternary isoforms and on a condition that in the multimeric protein (1) a structure of each of the units determines a structure of the different quaternary isoforms, (2) the units are in the equilibrium and (3) the structure of the different quaternary isoforms influences a function of the multimeric protein, wherein said multimeric protein is Pseudomonas aeruginosa GDP-Mannose dehydrogenase, Bacillus subtilis HPr, kinase/phosphatase, mammalian CoA transferase, purine nucleoside phosphorylase, or peroxiredoxins.

La présente invention a trait à une composition comportant un agent adapté pour affecter une protéine multimérique en se liant à un site de liaison de celle-ci affectant ainsi un équilibre d'unités, la protéine multimérique comporte un ensemble comprenant une pluralité desdites unités, chacune des unités ayant une première surface complémentaire et une deuxième surface complémentaire et la première surface complémentaire d'une unité est associée à la deuxième surface complémentaire d'une autre unité, à condition que l'ensemble soit au moins une des isoformes quaternaires différentes et à condition que dans la protéine multimérique (1) une structure de chacune des unités détermine une structure des isoformes quaternaires différentes, (2) les unités sont en équilibre et (3) la structure des isoformes quaternaires différentes influence une fonction de la protéine multimérique, ladite protéine multimérique étant une Pseudomonas aeruginosa GDP-Mannose déshydrogenase, Bacillus subtilis HPr, kinase/phosphatase, coenzyme A transférase mammalienne, purine nucléoside phosphorylase, ou des peroxirédoxines.
