- 16 - ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to a seal for a conveyor idler roller end cap which reduces the ingress of dust and other particulate matter into the conveyor idler bearings. The seal consists of a pair of shells which are pressed together. A bush which is mountable on a conveyor roller shaft extends into a lumen between the shells. The lumen has an oil impregnated sponge ring flanked by a pair of plastics material rings to entrap particulate matter entering the seal. An elastomeric sealing ring is located in a recess in the operatively outer shell and it has a skirt which is positionable over the idler roller shaft and reduces the ingress of particulate matter into the seal while allowing air to egress the seal. The invention also extends to a ball bearing assembly which is located on the shaft adjacent the seal. The bearing assembly has a metal ring in contact with the outer ball race and the conveyor roller to maintain an electrical connection therebetween.
