Biocompatible fluorocarbon emulsions are utilized to inhibit the removal of endogenously produced nitric oxide from the bloodstream, and to thereby inhibit vascular stenosis, vasoconstriction, and any other physiological condition or disorder arising in whole or in part from a deficiency of endogenous nitric oxide. Liquid fluorocarbon emulsions are also utilized to enhance the effectiveness of intravenously administered hemoglobin by limiting the availability of met-hemoglobin forming plasma-dissolved nitric oxide.
Cette invention concerne des émulsions de fluorocarbone biocompatibles qui permettant d'inhiber l'élimination, dans le flux sanguin, de l'oxyde nitrique produit de manière endogène, et d'inhiber ainsi la sténose vasculaire, la vasoconstriction, ainsi que toute autre condition ou trouble physiologique dus totalement ou en partie à une carence en oxyde nitrique endogène. Ces émulsions de fluorocarbone liquides sont également utilisées afin d'améliorer l'efficacité de l'hémoglobine administrée par voie intraveineuse, en limitant la disponibilité de l'oxyde nitrique formateur d'hémoglobine met et dissou dans le plasma.
