Described in the present application are compositions comprising mixtures of polyanionic polysaccharides and polycationic polysaccharides consisting of oligosaccharide derivatives of chitosan. In the compositions of the invention said mixtures have proven to be soluble in aqueous environments, despite ionic complexes forming between the acid polysaccharides and chitosan derivatives. Said compositions have also demonstrated significant rheological behaviour with an unexpected increase in viscosity and viscoelasticity, although the polysaccharides used have relatively low average molecular weights. The said solubility and rheological behaviour renders the compositions of the invention particularly advantageous from the biomedical application viewpoint, in particular for viscosupplementation and particularly in the field of articular pathologies and of ophthalmic surgery.
La présente invention concerne des compositions contenant des mélanges de polysaccharides polyanioniques et de polysaccharides polycationiques composés de dérivés oligosaccharides de chitosane. Dans les compositions de cette invention, ces mélanges se révèlent être solubles dans des environnements aqueux malgré la formation de complexes ioniques entre les polysaccharides acides et les dérivés de chitosane. Ces compositions présentent également un comportement rhéologique marqué avec une augmentation inattendue de la viscosité et de la viscoélasticité, malgré les poids moléculaires moyens relativement faibles des polysaccharides utilisés. Cette solubilité et ce comportement rhéologique rendent les compositions de cette invention particulièrement intéressantes pour des applications biomédicales, plus précisément pour la viscosupplémentation, en particulier dans le domaine des pathologies articulaires et de la chirurgie ophtalmique.
