A surgical access apparatus includes an access housing, an access member extending from the access housing, a seal mount disposed within the access housing and having an object seal for forming a seal about the surgical object and a monolithic closure valve mounted to the housing distal of the seal mount. The access housing and the access member define a longitudinal passage for passage of a surgical object. The closure valve includes an interface segment and a closure segment extending from the interface segment. The interface segment is in contacting relation with the seal mount and comprises a generally compliable material adapted to maintain a substantial seal with the seal mount and within the longitudinal passageway during angular movement of the surgical object.
