An apparatus and method for specific inhalation challenges generating concentrations of agents in liquid, dry, or vapor form and any combination thereof in controlled atmospheric conditions. The apparatus and method of the invention provide for a contaminated air mixture to flow within a closed circuit. A stable concentration of the mixture is conserved by various valves which allow for the evacuation of a part of the mixture or for the possibility of varying the contaminant concentration thereof. In order to ensure that the flow of product is constant and that the pressure is adequate at different critical points within the circuit, the apparatus includes pressure sensors and flow-meters as well as controlled valves. The apparatus also comprises a generator which integrates a solid agent generator with a liquid agent generator. The patient is exposed to this controlled mixture via an orofacial mask that is in communication with a exposure chamber containing this mixture.
L'invention concerne un appareil et un procédé pour problèmes d'inhalation spécifiques générant des concentrations d'agents sous forme liquide, sèche ou de vapeur et toute combinaison de ceux-ci dans des conditions atmosphériques régulées. L'appareil et le procédé de l'invention assurent l'écoulement d'un mélange d'air contaminé dans un circuit fermé. Une concentration stable du mélange est conservée par diverses valves permettant l'évacuation d'une partie du mélange ou la possibilité de modifier la concentration de contaminant de celle-ci. Afin de s'assurer que le flux de produit est constant et que la pression est adéquate à différents points critiques dans le circuit, l'appareil comporte des capteurs de pression et des débitmètres de même que des valves régulées. L'appareil comprend également un générateur qui intègre un générateur d'agent solide avec un générateur d'agent liquide. Le patient est exposé à ce mélange régulé par le biais d'un masque orofacial qui est en communication avec une chambre d'exposition contenant ce mélange.
