A treating agent for liquid crystal alignment useful for formation of a liquid crystal alignment film obtained by coating a film on a substrate equipped with transparent electrodes, baking the film, and subjecting the film surface to a rubbing treatment, wherein the treating agent for liquid crystal alignment contains a polyimide precursor containing a repeating unit of the formula (I) and a solvent-soluble polyimide resin containing a repeating unit of the formula (II), and at least 1 mol% of R4 of the solvent-soluble polyimide resin of the formula (II) being a bivalent organic group constituting a diamine which has a long-chain alkyl group or fluorine-containing alkyl group with a carbon number of at least 6, and the solvent-soluble polyimide resin of the formula (II) being from 1 to 80g by weight based on the total polymer weight: Image (wherein each of R1 and R2 is a tetravalent organic group which constitutes tetracarboxylic acid or its derivative, each of R2 and R4 is a bivalent organic group which constitutes a diamine, and m and k are positive integers).
La présente invention concerne un agent d'alignement de cristaux liquides destiné à la formation d'un film d'alignement de cristaux liquides. La fabrication de ce film consiste à appliquer l'agent sur un substrat comportant une électrode transparente, puis à procéder à une cuisson et à un polissage de la surface. Cet agent est caractérisé en ce qu'il est constitué d'un précurseur d'un polyimide comprenant des unités répétitives représentées par la formule générale (I), et une résine de polyimide soluble dans un solvant et comprenant des unités répétitives représentées par la formule générale (II). Une proportion molaire d'au moins 1 % de R4 du polyimide représenté par la formule générale (II) est constituée d'un groupe organique bivalent constituant une diamine portant un alkyle à chaîne longue ou un groupe alkyle contenant un fluor, lequel groupe porte au moins 6 atomes de carbone. Le polymère total présente une proportion pondérale de 1 à 80 % du polyimide représenté par la formule générale (II). Dans ces formules générales, R1 et R3 représentent chacun un groupe tétravalent constituant un acide tétracarboxylique et un de ses dérivés, R2 et R4 représentent chacun un groupe organique bivalent constituant une diamine, et m et k sont l'un et l'autre des entiers positifs.
