A method of extracting data from a representation of an identifier, such as a fingerprint is provided. The method includes selecting a plurality of features, such as ridge ends or bifurcations, in the representation of an identifier, considering the positions of those features and generating a reference feature, such a s a centre, from the positions of the plurality of features. The method then links one or more of the features to the reference feature and/or links one or more of the features to one or more of the other features in the plurality of features. From the result, the method extracts data including information on one or more of: one or more of the plurality of features; the reference feature; one or more of the links between a feature and the reference feature; one or more of the links between a feature and another feature.
La présente invention concerne un procédé d'extraction de données d'une représentation d'un identificateur tel qu'une empreinte digitale. Le procédé consiste à sélectionner une pluralité de caractéristiques, telles que les extrémités ou bifurcations des crêtes, dans la représentation d'un identificateur, à considérer les positions de ces caractéristiques et à générer une caractéristique de référence telle qu'un centre, à partir des position de la pluralité de caractéristiques. Le procédé consiste ensuite à relier l'une au moins de ces caractéristiques à la caractéristique de référence et/ou à relier l'un au moins de ces caractéristiques à l'une au moins des autres caractéristiques de la pluralité de caractéristiques. Le procédé consiste enfin, partant de ce résultat, à extraire des données incluant de l'information se rapportant l'un au moins des éléments suivants: l'une au moins des caractéristiques de la pluralité de caractéristiques, la caractéristique de référence, l'une au moins des relations entre une caractéristique et la caractéristique de référence, et enfin l'une au moins des relations entre une caractéristique et une autre caractéristique.
