A tensioning system (10) for restricting the available volume of a gastric cavity includes a base material (12) that is shaped and dimensioned for surgical attachment to surfaces (14, 15) on or within the body. Multiple tensioning members (18) are incorporated into the base material, each of the tensioning members including a first end (22) and a second end (24), wherein pulling upon the tensioning member will cause edges of the base material to be drawn together. The method for restricting the available volume of a gastric cavity includes securing edges of a tensioning system to the gastric cavity and drawing the edges of the tissue together to create a fold in the tissue.
L'invention concerne un système de mise sous tension (10) pour limiter le volume disponible d'une cavité gastrique, comprenant un matériau de base (12) qui est mis en forme et dimensionné pour une fixation chirurgicale sur des surfaces (14, 15) du corps ou dans le corps.
