The present invention concerns a machine designed for slitting travelling webs such as corrugated board or similar, comprising a slitting tool with a shape of a thin rotary blade (1) provided with a cutting peripheral edge. The rotary blade (1) is contained within a holder (36) so that only a small portion of the cutting edge will emerge from the holder (36) through a narrow slot in the holder wall, the said wall being destined to be placed very close to the web (B) to be slitted. The holder (36) containes a liquid for cooling and lubricating the rotary blade (1). Appropriate means for ensuring the rotation of the rotary blade (1) are also foreseen.
