Hybrid polypeptides are provided formed with encapsulating regions from genes that encode for anabolic proteins. More particularly, the present invention relates to recombinant nucleic acid molecules that code for genes which encapsulate an attached protein within a matrix; preferably, these genes encapsulate a desired ("payload") polypeptide within starch, and more specifically within the starch granule matrix. Expression vectors comprising these recombinant nucleic acid molecules, and hosts therefor, and more specifically the starch-bearing portions of such hosts, transformed with such vectors, are also provided. Preferably, grain containing a foreign protein encapsulated within the starch is provided, useful to produce mammalian, fish and avian food. The invention also encompasses methods of producing purified protein from starch and particularly from starch granules, and industrial uses of such protein.
Cette invention se rapporte à des polypeptides hybrides formés avec des régions d'encapsulation à partir de gènes qui codent des protéines anabolisantes. Cette invention se rapporte plus particulièrement à des molécules d'acides nucléiques recombinées qui codent des gènes encapsulant une protéine combinée à une matrice; de préférence, ces gènes encapsulent un polypeptide particulier (la "charge utile") dans de l'amidon, et plus particulièrement au sein de la matrice granulaire d'amidon. L'invention se rapporte également à des vecteurs d'expression comportant ces molécules d'acides nucléiques recombinées, ainsi qu'à des hôtes destinés à ces vecteurs, et plus particulièrement aux parties porteuses d'amidon de ces hôtes, transformées par ces vecteurs. De préférence, l'invention concerne un grain contenant une protéine étrangère encapsulée au sein de l'amidon, utile à la production d'aliments pour mammifères, poissons et oiseaux. L'invention se rapporte en outre à des procédés de production d'une protéine purifiée à partir d'amidon et particulièrement à partir de grains d'amidon, ainsi qu'aux utilisations industrielles d'une telle protéine.
