In one aspect, the invention provides a method of nucleic acid analysis for providing information on the relative copy numbers of target sequences in the nucleic acid population. A nucleic acid population is provided that includes at least two target sequences. Probes for the target sequences are provided, and the probes are labelled. The probes are mixed with the population of nucleic acids under selected hybridisation conditions, allowing the probes to hybridise to the target sequences. The relative amounts the probes that are hybridised to the target sequences is detected, to provide information that is indicative of the relative copy numbers of the target sequences in the nucleic acid population.
