An acoustic wave touch position sensor in which a transducer (14) coupled to a substrate (10) imparts a surface acoustic wave, into the substrate (10) for propagation along a first axis. A reflecive array (28, 34, 30, 36) having selective reflection characteristics for various wave propagation modes is disposed along the first axis to create a higher order horizontally polarized shear wave having an order greater than zero perpendicular to the axis, so that a touch surface (40) of the substrate (10) is imparted with shear wave energy. This energy may be partially absorbed, attenuated or perturbed by an object touching the substrate (10), to create a modified waveform having a characteristic indicative of the axial displacement and/or contact condition of the object with the substrate (10).
Détecteur de position tactile à onde acoustique dans lequel un capteur (14) couplé à un substrat (10) introduit une onde acoustique de surface dans ledit substrat (10) afin qu'elle se propage le long d'un premier axe. Un ensemble de réflexion (28, 34, 30, 36) possédant des caractéristiques de réflexion sélective pour différents modes de propagation d'onde se trouve le long du premier axe et génère une onde de cisaillement d'ordre supérieur à polarisation horizontale, dont l'ordre est supérieur à zéro, perpendiculaire à l'axe, de manière à appliquer une énergie d'onde de cisaillement à une surface tactile (40) du substrat (10). Cette énergie peut être partiellement absorbée, atténuée ou perturbée par un objet touchant le substrat (10), ce qui produit une forme d'onde modifiée possédant une caractéristique indiquant le déplacement axial et/ou la condition de contact de l'objet avec le substrat (10).
