The device for putting the feet into motion comprises a frame and a footrest for each foot or for both feet together, which footrest is mounted to oscillate about an oscillation axis. Said axis is situated in a zone that corresponds substantially to the axis of the user's foot joints when the feet are in position in the footrest(s). Each footrest is secured to the frame about said oscillation axis at a height such as to ensure that there is no contact with the working surface during oscillation of the footrest about the axis. The bottom of the footrest is made up of a plurality of individual transverse strips which are angularly offset relative to the general surface of the bottom and are shaped to comply with the general natural shape of the sole of the foot.
