A device for filling shooting heads (1) with moulding materials (2) has a reservoir (3) for moulding material (2), an outlet member (4) for discharging moulding material (2) into the shooting head (1) and a filling member (6) with a closure member (5) for closing the outlet member (4). The filling member (6) is vertically movable on a machine frame (7) to allow the outlet member (4) to be immersed into the shooting head (1) to be filled. In order to fill the filling member (6) in an exact and reproducible manner, a contactless measurement sensor (8) is associated to the outlet member (4) to detect inside the shooting head (1) the filling level of the shooting head (1).
