A filter apparatus including a filter housing having an inlet and an outlet and a filter device locatable therebetween; said filter device comprising a filter medium for gas of dielectric and polarisable material, an electrically conductive screen, mesh or like potential means connectable to a supply of high voltage power and provided only to abut said filter medium such that when said electrically conductive potential means is subject to a high voltage so that the filter medium is polarised and either nothing apart from sir or a support or retention means of dielectric material is on a side of said filter medium immediately opposite to said charge applying means and no charge applying means are located upstream of said potential means.
Appareil de filtration comprenant un corps pourvu d'un orifice d'entrée et d'un orifice de sortie, et un dispositif filtrant pouvant être placé entre les deux; ce dispositif filtrant comprenant un milieu filtrant pour gaz en un matériau diélectrique et polarisable, un tamis, un élément à mailles ou autre moyen d'application de potentiel électroconducteur pouvant être connecté à une alimentation en courant à haute tension et agencé seulement de façon à venir en butée contre ledit milieu filtrant, de sorte que lorsque ledit moyen d'application de potentiel électroconducteur est soumis à une tension élevée, le milieu soit polarisé. Outre l'air, aucun autre élément ne se trouve du côté du milieu filtrant immédiatement opposé au côté où se trouve le moyen applicateur de charge, ou alors seulement un moyen de support ou de retenue composé d'un matériau diélectrique, et aucun moyen applicateur de charge ne se trouve en amont dudit moyen d'application de potentiel.
