A valve (20) having a sealing surface that is rotated 90 degrees on axial floating hinge assemblies (72) is provided. A sleeve (52) moves into position to protect the valve mechanism when the valve is in an open position. A sleeve locks the valve sealing element in place in either a closed or open position. The valve may be used during drilling of wells to prevent flow into the casing (14) when the drill pipe (15) and bit (16) are raised above the valve.

La présente invention se rapporte à un clapet présentant une surface détanchéité tournant sur 90 degrés sur des ensembles charnières flottantes axiales. Un manchon se déplace dans une position lui permettant de protéger le mécanisme à clapet lorsque le clapet est dans une position ouverte. Un manchon maintient lélément détanchéité de clapet en place aussi bien en position fermée quen position ouverte. Le clapet peut être utilisé pendant le forage de puits afin déviter un écoulement dans le tubage lorsque la tige de forage et le trépan sont soulevés au-dessus du clapet.
