Storage stable aqueous acidic solutions, often having a pH of up to 1 containing an ester peracid and/or an acid peracid can be obtained by reacting a diester satisfying the general formula R1-O-CO-R2-CO-O- R3 in which R1 and R3 each represents a alkyl group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms which may the same of different and R2 represents an aliphatic alkylene group optionally unsaturated which may be linear or branched containing from 2 to 6 carbon atoms with aqueous hydrogen peroxide in the presence of an acid, such as sulphuric acid and permitting the compositions to progress towards equilibrium concentrations. By starting with a diester, perhydrolysis generates an ester peracid which is a particularly effective peracid. The process can be controlled to produce solutions containing a high peracid content and within a wide range of ratios of ester peracid to arid peracid
L'invention concerne des solutions acides aqueuses dont la stabilité est maintenue pendant le stockage. Ces solutions présentent souvent une valeur de pH pouvant atteindre 1, et contiennent un peracide d'ester et/ou un peracide d'acide. Elles peuvent être obtenues en faisant réagir un diester correspondant à la formule générale R<1>-O-CO-R<2>-CO-O-R<3>. Dans cette formule, R<1> et R<3> représentent chacun un groupe alkyle contenant 1 à 4 atomes de carbone qui peuvent être les mêmes ou différents, et R<2> représente un groupe alkylène aliphatique éventuellement non saturé qui peut être linéaire ou ramifié, contenant 2 à 6 atomes de carbone avec du péroxyde d'hydrogène aqueux en présence d'un acide, tel que de l'acide sulfurique, et permettant à ces compositions de progresser vers des concentrations d'équilibre. En commençant avec un diester, la perhydrolyse génère un peracide d'ester qui est un peracide particulièrement efficace. Ce procédé peut être contrôlé pour produire des solutions dont la teneur en peracide est élevée et qui présentent une large plage de rapports de peracide d'ester sur peracide d'acide.
