An improved process for making sheet from a fibrous furnish includes: depositing the furnish on a foraminous support; compactively dewatering the furnish to form a nascent web; drying the web on a heated cylinder; creping the web therefrom and throughdrying the web to a finished product. The microstructure of the web is controlled so as to facilitate throughdrying. The product exhibits a characteristic throughdrying coefficient of from 4 to 10 when the airflow through the sheet is characterized by a Reynolds Number of less than about 1. The novel products of the invention are characterized by wet springback ratio, hydraulic diameter and an internal bond strength parameter.

Le présent extrait concerne un procédé amélioré de fabrication de feuille à partir d'une composition de fabrication fibreuse, qui comprend : le dépôt de la composition de fabrication sur un support foraminé; l'épaississement de façon compacte de la composition de fabrication pour former un voile naissant; le séchage du voile sur un cylindre chauffé; le crêpage du voile, à partir de là, et le séchage à fond du voile en produit fini. La microstructure du voile est contrôlée de façon à faciliter le séchage à fond. Le produit montre un coefficient de séchage à fond caractéristique, de 4 à 10, lorsque l'écoulement d'air à travers la feuille est caractérisé par un nombre de Reynolds inférieur à environ 1. Les produits nouveaux de l'invention se caractérisent par le taux de retour élastique humide, le diamètre hydraulique et un paramètre de résistance d'adhésion interne.
