For the remote distribution/installation of computer programs from a source to a number of target computers, the computer programs are transferred as packages. Attempt numbers for retrying a push mode and a pull mode distribution are pre-specified. A next package is identified and if a target computer is available then installation of the package on the target computer is started. Otherwise, if at least one push mode attempt is left, a next push mode is resumed and rescheduled and, if no push mode attempt is left, but at least one pull mode attempt is left, a next pull mode distribution is resumed and rescheduled. The mechanism particularly proposes a queue manager that activates a request i.e. moves the request from a request queue into an active queue and has implemented throttling that balances the load during a software distribution/installation.
Afin de procéder à la distribution/installation à distance de programmes informatiques à partir d'une source vers un certain nombre d'ordinateurs cibles, les programmes informatiques sont transférés sous la forme de progiciels. Des nombres de tentatives pour réessayer une distribution en mode pousser et en mode tirer sont préspécifiés. Un progiciel suivant est identifié et si l'ordinateur cible est disponible alors l'installation du progiciel sur l'ordinateur cible est entamée. Sinon, si au moins il reste une tentative en mode pousser, un mode pousser suivant est repris et reprogrammé et, s'il ne reste aucune tentative en mode pousser, mais qu'il reste au moins une tentative en mode tirer, une distribution suivante en mode tirer est reprise et reprogrammée. Le mécanisme propose notamment un gestionnaire de file d'attente lequel active une demande, c'est-à-dire qu'il déplace la demande d'une file d'attente de demandes dans une file d'attente active et procède à une régulation qui équilibre la charge pendant la distribution/installation de logiciels.
