The present invention relates to the use of a variable reflective material (VAREM), which material can be considered to be an assembly of thin layers of metal alloys, whose optical properties can be varied between reflecting and absorbing in the optical part of the spectrum. Another object of the present invention is to provide a device for converting solar energy into thermal energy and possibly electric energy, which device is provided with an optically variable coating, which can be controlled in such a manner that the transmissivity to sunlight thereof can be varied as needed.

La présente invention a trait à l'utilisation d'un matériau à réflexion variable, lequel matériau peut être sous la forme d'un ensemble de couches minces d'alliages métalliques, dont les propriétés optiques peuvent varier entre la réflexion et l'absorption dans la partie optique du spectre. L'invention a trait également à la fourniture d'un dispositif destiné à la conversion de l'énergie solaire en énergie thermique et éventuellement en énergie électrique, lequel dispositif est muni d'un revêtement optique variable, qui peut être contrôlé de sorte que sa transmissivité à la lumière du soleil peut être variée selon les besoins.
