A C-terminal .alpha.-amidating enzyme of human thyroid gland origin, which converts a protein or peptide represented by the formula (I): R-X-Gly (I) wherein Gly represents glycine present at the C-terminus, X represents any amino acid to be .alpha.-amidated, and R represents a remaining portion of the protein or peptide, to an .alpha.-amidated protein or peptide represented by the formula (II): R-X-NH2 (II) wherein X-NH2 represent C-terminal .alpha.-amidated amino acid, and R represents a remaining portion of the protein or peptide, and biologically active derivative maintaining the enzyme activity thereof, a process for the production thereof, and expression vectors, and a prokaryotic and eukaryotic transformant for the process.
Enzyme d'alpha-amidation à terminaison C provenant de la glande thyroïde humaine, qui convertit une protéine ou un peptide représentés par la formule R-X-Gly, dans laquelle Gly représente la glycine présente dans la terminaison C, X représente tout acide aminé destiné à être alpha-amidé, et R représente une partie résiduelle de la protéine ou du peptide, en une protéine ou peptide alpha-amidés représentés par la formule R-X-NH2, dans laquelle X-NH2 représente l'acide aminé alpha-amidé à terminaison C, et R représente une partie résiduelle de la protéine ou du peptide.
