A method and system for restoring a subscriber context in a network element of a mobile communication network is described, wherein a new subscriber context which has been updated after the latest restart is indicated by transmitting a corresponding restart information to the network element. Based on the restart information the network element continues the use of new subscriber contexts updated after the latest restart and inactivates old subscriber contexts updated before the latest restart. Thereby, the amount of unnecessary subscriber context reactivations and the corresponding downtime of the service is reduced. Moreover, the amount of signaling required after the restart is reduced, since a smaller number of subscriber contexts have to be re- established.

L'invention se rapporte à un procédé et à un système de rétablissement d'un contexte d'abonné dans un élément d'un réseau de communication mobile. Selon ledit procédé, un nouveau contexte d'abonné qui a été mis à jour après la dernière relance est indiqué au moyen de la transmission d'informations de relance correspondantes à l'élément du réseau. Sur la base de ces informations relatives à la relance, l'élément de réseau continue à utiliser les nouveaux contextes d'abonné mis à jour après la dernière relance et inactive les anciens contextes d'abonnés mis à jour avant la dernière relance. Il est ainsi possible de réduire le nombre de réactivations de contextes d'abonnés non nécessaires ainsi que le temps d'indisponibilité correspondant du service. En outre, ceci permet de réduire la quantité de signalisation requise après la relance, étant donné que les contextes d'abonnés doivent être rétablis en nombre réduit.
