Disclosed is a multilobal synthetic polymeric filament having a single approximately axially extending central void. The total cross-sectional void area of the filament is between about 3 and about 10 percent void. This filament preferably has a modification ratio between about 2 and about 6, and an arm angle between about 70 and about 35°. This hollow multilobal cross-section filament is of a low weight and permits to obtain high cover, good soil hiding, sparkle and luster.
