A detector for sensing the presence of a magnetic tag having an axis of easy magnetisation, which comprises (1) either (i) a magnet or (ii) a pair of magnets arranged in magnetic opposition, the magnet or magnets being disposed so as to define a spatial region through or across which the magnetic tag is, in use, passed, the disposition of said magnet(s) and the resultant magnetic field pattern being such as to cause a change in polarity of the magnetisation of said magnetic tag in the course of its passage through a magnetic null within said spatial region; and (2) a receiver coil or coils positioned above and in proximity to one pole of said magnet (where a single magnet is employed), or positioned between said pair of magnets (where two magnets are employed) and arranged to detect magnetic dipole radiation emitted by a magnetic tag as it passes through said magnetic null with the easy axis of magnetisation of the tag oriented in the direction of travel. The receiver coils are preferably constructed as an assembly of printed circuit boards whose conductive tracks are interconnected to form a three dimensional coil having windings in the various layers.

L'invention concerne un détecteur de présence d'étiquette magnétique comportant (1) un aimant (ou un assemblage d'aimants) agencé de manière à définir une zone spatiale par laquelle ou à travers laquelle passe l'étiquette magnétique au moment de son utilisation, la disposition dudit (ou desdits) aimant(s) et la configuration du champ magnétique résultant étant conçues de manière à modifier la polarité de la magnétisation de ladite étiquette magnétique pendant son passage dans ou à travers ladite zone spatiale; et (2) une ou des bobines réceptrices disposées de manière à détecter le rayonnement dipôle émis par l'étiquette magnétique lors de son passage dans ou à travers ladite zone spatiale. Les bobines réceptrices se présentent de préférence sous forme d'assemblage de cartes de circuits imprimés dont les pistes conductrices sont interconnectées de manière à former un bobinage tridimensionnel possédant des enroulements dans les diverses couches.
