Protein "e" of H. influenzae, a lipoprotein of approximately 28,000 daltons, has been purified and sequenced. Protein "e" and peptides or proteins having a shared epitope, can be used to vaccinate against non typable (and typable) H. influenzae and to prevent otitis media caused by H. influenzae. For this purpose, protein "e" or derivatives thereof can be produced in native, synthetic or recombinant forms and can be administered alone or in conjunction with other antigens of H. influenzae. Protein "e" can also be used in multivalent vaccines designed for H. influenzae and one or more other infectious organisms.
La protéine "e" de H. influenzae, une lipoprotéine d'approximativement 28 000 daltons, a été purifiée et mise en séquence. On peut utiliser la protéine "e" ainsi que des peptides ou des protéines ayant un épitope partagé afin de procéder à une vaccination contre les H. influenzae inclassifiables (et classifiables) et afin de prévenir l'otite moyenne provoquée par H. influenzae. On peut, pour ce faire, produire une protéine "e" ou des dérivés de celle-ci sous des formes native, synthétique ou de recombinaison, et l'administrer seule ou conjointement avec d'autres antigènes de H. influenzae. On peut aussi utiliser ladite protéine "e" dans des vaccins multivalents conçus contre H. influenzae, et un ou plusieurs autres organismes infectieux.
