A method and a system that allows verification of affiliation with any one or more of a set of affinity groups provides information about the conditions under which a benefit can inure to a supplicant who is found to be a member in good standing with a given group, or collection of groups. The system comprises a communication module that interacts with a party accessing the system and a processor that is coupled to information stores. The communication module is coupled to a processor that is also coupled to an information store. The information store is at least partly within the system. In some embodiments, parts of the information store are remote to the system. A party that is in the business of providing benefits connects to the system, identifies a supplicant, and specifies one or more affiliation groups. The processor searches the information store, determines whether the supplicant is a bona fide member of one of more of the specified groups, and is provided with information regarding the terms and conditions under which the supplicant might receive benefits from the party.
