A plant which, when used to produce pressurised oxygen gas, includes a switch, e.g. a liquid oxygen/liquid air switch, for meeting relatively long-term peak demand as well as short-term, high-amplitude peak demand, and a circuit (13, 30) for compressing oxygen to a pressure higher than the production pressure. Said circuit leads to a buffer (15) at least partially meeting short-term, high-amplitude peak demand.

Cette installation, dans son application à la production d'oxygène gazeux sous pression, comprend, d'une part, une bascule, par exemple oxygène liquide/air liquide, pour satisfaire aux pointes de consommation de durée relativement longue et à celles de courte durée et de faible amplitude, et d'autre part, un circuit (13, 30) de compression d'oxygène sous une pression supérieure à la pression de production, ce circuit conduisant à une capacité auxiliaire (15) qui fournit au moins en partie les pointes de consommation de courte durée et de forte amplitude.
