Method and apparatus for produ- cing customized video recordings. The apparatus includes audio/video repro- duction equipment for displaying prompt information (16) and for providing a first audio signal (27) synchronous with the prompt information (16). The apparatus further includes a device (30) for provid- ing a first video signal representative of background information, audio/video re- cording equipment (21) for providing a second video signal (12) and a second au- dio signal (52) representative of a live performance performed synchronously with the display of the prompt informa- tion (16). A mixer (32) is provided for combining the first and second audio and video signals, and creative modifica- tion are added whereupon the combined signals are recorded (21) to form the cus- tomized video recording.
