IGF and IGFBP are administered to stimulate new bone formation in subjects with bone loss due to bone marrow disorders, connective tissue disorders, drugs, pregnancy, lactation, chronic hypophosphatemia, hyperphospharasia, insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, anorexia nervosa, cadmium poisoning, juvenile osteoporosis, Paget's disease of bone, osteoarthritis and periodontal disease. IGF-I and IGFBP-3 are optionally combined with agents that inhibit bone resorption.

L'IGF et l'IGFBP sont administrés pour stimuler la formation de nouveau tissu osseux chez les sujets atteints d'une perte osseuse attribuable à des anomalies de la moelle osseuse, à des anomalies du tissu conjonctif, à la prise de médicaments, à la grossesse, à la lactation, à l'hypophosphatémie chronique, à l'hyperphosphatasie, au diabète sucré insulinodépendent, à l'anorexie mentale, à l'intoxication par le cadmium, à l'ostéoporose juvénile, à la maladie osseuse de Paget, à l'ostéoarthrite et à la maladie parodontale.
