A system for extending the battery life of a wireless phone has four circuits. A first circuit (20) provides a control signal (40) indicative of a mode of the wireless phone. A second circuit (20), which may be the same as the first circuit, provides a transmit signal (Tx). A third circuit (32) receives a biasing signal (42) and amplifies the transmit signal in preparation for transmission. A fourth circuit (12) selectively alters the power dissipated by the third circuit by selectively changing the biasing signal in response to the control signal.

L'invention concerne un système servant à prolonger la vie de la batterie d'un téléphone sans fil, qui comporte quatre circuits. Un premier circuit (20) délivre un signal de commande (40) indiquant un mode de fonctionnement du téléphone sans fil. Un deuxième circuit (20), qui peut être le même que le premier, délivre un signal d'émission (Tx). Un troisième circuit (32) reçoit un signal de polarisation (42) et amplifie le signal d'émission pour le préparer à l'émission. Un quatrième circuit (12) modifie de façon sélective la puissance dissipée par le troisième circuit en modifiant de façon sélective le signal de polarisation en réaction au signal de commande.
