A heating assembly comprising a housing having an air passageway extending therethrough for passage and flow of air through the housing, and at least one heating element is removably mounted to an interior surface of the housing, projecting into the housing, so as to be in direct contact with the air therein. The heating element is supplied with electrical power from a power source for enabling the heating element to heat the air. A thermostatic safety control is provided in association with the heating element, which is adapted to turn the heating element off when a temperature of the air exceeds a pre-determined level. An air blower is also provided for directing heated air within the housing to an area external to the heating assembly. In another embodiment, a remote device can be used to selectively activate, or deactivate, the heating element. The heating assembly can be interconnected to existing air duct work in a home, wherein the heating assembly can work in the home independently of, and without interfering with, an installed furnace.
