A composite sorbent material is disclosed which comprises A) a housing of a dense, insoluble material having openings therein and B) a porous polymer gel housed within said housing, said housing being provided with openings therein for fluid communication between said porous monolithic polymer gel and the surroundings, and said porous monolithic polymer gel occupying the inner space of said housing and being kept on place within said housing by mechanical means. Processes for the preparation of composite sorbent materials by cryoprecipitation are also disclosed as well as the use of the composite sorbent material according to the inventione.g. for the removal of pollutants from gases or liquids, for the enrichment or separation of molecules and for cell culture .

L'invention concerne un matériau sorbant composite, comprenant A) un carter constitué d'un matériau dense et insoluble comportant des ouvertures et B) un gel polymère poreux logé dans ledit carter, ledit carter étant muni d'ouvertures pour communication fluidique entre ledit gel polymère poreux monolithique et les environs, et ledit gel polymère poreux monolithique occupant l'espace intérieur dudit carter et étant maintenu en place dans ledit carter par des moyens mécaniques. L'invention concerne également des procédés de préparation du matériau sorbant composite par cryoprécipitation, ainsi que l'utilisation du matériau sorbant composite selon l'invention, par exemple pour l'élimination de polluants dans des gaz ou des liquides, ou pour l'enrichissement ou la séparation de molécules et pour la culture cellulaire.
