A manually operated reciprocating liquid pump (10) employs both a priming valve (20) and a check valve (18) where the priming valve performs the dual functions of priming the pump and sealing the pump (10) to prevent inadvertent leakage of liquid through the pump (10) when it is not in an uprightorientation.
