A conspicuity marking system (10, 80) includes a light guide (12, 82) which has at least one optically reflective surface for propagating light through the light guide and a retroreflective light extractor (20, 84) for extracting light (52) propagating through the light guide and for retroreflecting light (54) from an external light source incident upon the system. Light propagating through the light guide (20, 82) which is transmitted into the light extractor (20, 84) is reflected back through the light guide such that it exits the light guide at a location displaced from the retroreflective light extractor. Light (54) from an external light source which is incident on the system passes through the light guide (12, 82) and is retroreflected toward the light source by the retroreflective light extractor (20, 84).
Ce système de marquage voyant (10, 80) comprend un guide optique (12, 82) présentant au moins une surface optiquement réfléchissante destinée à propager la lumière à travers ce guide, ainsi qu'un extracteur de lumière rétroréfléchissant (20, 84) destiné à extraire la lumière (52) se propageant à travers le guide et à rétroréfléchir cette lumière (54) à partir d'une source lumineuse, externe et incidente sur le système. La lumière se propageant à travers le guide optique (20, 82) est transmise dans l'extracteur (20, 84) puis réfléchie en retour à travers le guide optique de manière à sortir du guide au niveau d'un endroit éloigné dudit extracteur. La lumière (54) provenant d'une source lumineuse externe, incidente sur le système, passe à travers le guide (12, 82) et est rétroréfléchie vers la source lumineuse par l'extracteur lumineux rétroréfléchissant (20, 84).
