A solid bearing drawer slide assembly is provided including an elongated first slide member having a first longitudinal axis, first and second bearing surfaces and a first planar sidewall disposed between the first and second bearing surfaces. The assembly further includes an elongated second side member having a second longitudinal axis parallel to the first axis, third and fourth bearing surfaces and a second planar sidewall disposed between the third and fourth bearing surfaces. The first and second bearing surfaces are respectively slidably engageable with the third and fourth bearing surfaces. A low coefficient of friction medium is disposed on at least one of the first and third bearing surfaces and on at least one of the second and fourth bearing surfaces to facilitate sliding engagement thereof. Additionally, one of the first and second sidewalls has a plurality of ribs extending out of the plane of the sidewall, whereby the ribs strengthen the associated slide member and inhibit deflection thereof in use.
