The invention relates to a novel transformation method for plants of the genus Allium, in particular to onion plants. Plants transformed by the method are also provided. The method preferably involves an Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation, more preferably involving immature embryos as the explant source and employing a binary vector.

La présente invention a pour objet une nouvelle méthode de transformation de plantes du genre Allium, plus particulièrement des oignons. Elle a aussi pour objet les plantes transformées au moyen de ladite méthode. Cette méthode comprend, de préférence, une transformation fondée sur Agrobacterium tumefaciens, plus préférablement sur des embryons immatures en tant que source d'explant, avec un vecteur binaire.
