A system and method for drug management using transferable labels provides a chain of identity for medications from their arrival in a pharmacy to administration to a patient. Drug information is read, in some embodiments optically, and imprinted on a transferable label optionally fabricated of low stretch, chemical resistant material, that is attached to the medication package. The transferable label is checked to make sure that it correctly corresponds to the drug information. At the time of preparation for administration, the transferable label is transferred from the medication package to the administration device, typically a syringe or dose cup. The health care giver scans the patient identification information, usually found on an identification bracelet, the transferable label, and optionally, a unique code belonging to the administering party. The system will reject non- matches between scanned inputs, and may be configured with a variety of safety steps, displays, and reports.
L'invention concerne un système et un procédé pour la gestion de médicaments au moyen d'étiquettes transférables, donnant une chaîne d'identité pour les médicaments depuis leur arrivée en pharmacie et leur administration au patient. On lit l'information pertinente, selon certaines variantes en lecture optique, et l'information est imprimée sur une étiquette transférable éventuellement en matériau peu étirable et à résistance chimique, fixée à l'emballage. L'étiquette est vérifiée, aux fins de concordance avec l'information. Au moment de la préparation en vue de l'administration, l'étiquette est transférée de l'emballage au dispositif d'administration, généralement via une seringue ou une coupelle de dosage. Le spécialiste de soins de santé lit l'information d'identification de patient, qui figure généralement sur un bracelet d'identification, et éventuellement un code unique propre au tiers administrant. Le système rejette les non-concordances entre les entrées lues et on peut le configurer selon un éventail d'étapes de sécurité, de moyens d'affichage et de rapports
