In an EAS system and method, a reference antenna is used to spatially separate the interference and tag signal allowing the interference signal to be removed, which improves performance of the EAS receiver. The reference antenna is coupled to the system by an adaptive filter, which can be a software filter that is continually adapting itself to optimum performance. The continuous adaptation obviates the need for manually tuning the coupling network and permits the system to perform at its optimum levle over long periods of time.

Dans un système et un procédé de surveillance d'articles électroniques (EAS), on utilise une antenne de référence afin de séparer dans l'espace le signal parasite et le signal de référence, ce qui permet de supprimer le signal parasite et d'améliorer les performances du récepteur EAS. L'antenne de référence est couplée au système au moyen d'un filtre adaptatif pouvant consister en un filtre logiciel s'adaptant en continu à des performances optimales. Cette adaptation continue élimine le besoin de réglage manuel du réseau de couplage et permet au système de fonctionner à son niveau optimum pendant des durées prolongées.
