Apparatus and methods are provided comprising an implantable non-hydraulic ring (22) that encircles and provides a controllable degree of constriction to an organ or duct and an external control that powers and controls operation of the ring. The ring includes a rigid dorsal periphery (30, 38) that maintains a constant exterior diameter, and a compliant constriction system (31, 36) that reduces intolerance phenomena. A high precision, energy efficient mechanical actuator (35) is employed that is telemetrically powered and controlled, and maintains the ring at a selected diameter when the device is unpowered, even for extended periods. The actuator provides a reversible degree of constriction of the organ or duct, which is readily ascertainable without the need for radiographic imaging. Methods of use and implantation also are provided.
La présente invention a trait à un appareil et des procédés comprenant un anneau implantable non hydraulique (22) qui entoure et assure un certain degré contrôlable de constriction à un organe ou conduit et une commande extérieure qui alimente et contrôle le fonctionnement de l'anneau. L'anneau comporte une périphérie dorsale rigide (30, 38) qui maintient un diamètre extérieur constant et un système de constriction flexible (31, 36) qui réduit le phénomène d'intolérance. Un actionneur mécanique haute précision éconergétique (35) à alimentation et commande télémétrique est utilisé, et maintient l'anneau à un diamètre choisi lorsque le dispositif n'est pas alimenté, même pour de périodes prolongées. L'actionneur assure un degré de constriction réversible de l'organe ou du conduit, qui est facilement détectable sans avoir recours à l'imagerie radiographique. L'invention a également trait à des procédés d'utilisation et l'implantation du dispositif.
