The present invention provides a gene encoding ANT-like polypeptide comprising in the N-terminal to C-terminal direction two AP2 DNA binding domains followed in the C-terminal by an amino acid subsequence selected from the group consisting of Xaa-Ser-Ser-Ser-Arg-Glu, Aaa-Ser-Asn-Ser-Arg-Glu, and Asn-Ser- Ser-Ser-Arg-Asn, wherein Xaa is an amino acid residue selected from the group consisting of Gly, Ala, Val, Leu, and Ile. Such gene encoding ANT-like polypeptide can be over-expressed in a transgenic plant to provide agronomically desired traits based on increased size of plant organs.

La présente invention concerne un gène codant un polypeptide de type <I>ANT</I> comprenant dans le sens N-terminal à C-terminal deux domaines de fixation d'ADN AP2 suivis dans la partie C-terminal d'une sous-séquence d'acides aminés sélectionnée dans le groupe comprenant Xaa-Ser-Ser-Ser-Arg-Glu, Xaa-Ser-Asn-Ser-Arg-Glu, et Asn-Ser-Ser-Ser-Arg-Asn, où Xaa représente un reste d'acide aminé choisi dans le groupe comprenant Gly, Ala, Val, Leu, et Ile. Un tel gène codant un polypeptide de type ANT peut être surexprimé dans une plante transgénique afin d'obtenir des traits agronomiques voulus sur la base d'une taille accrue d'organes végétaux sélectionnés.
