The present invention concerns the improvement of a static reading head, having the capability of processing, indeferently, data cards of the inductive type and chip-cards provided with contact pads on their surface. The raising and lowering of connection pins (49) which contact said pads is achieved by linking the pin supporting plate (48) to rocking C-shaped driving arms (41, 41'), having bifurcated free upper ends (42) slidingly coupled to pivots (43, 43') which are attached to said plate. The lower limbs of said arms extend parallel to the lower face (47) of the upper part (30) of the reading head, said limbs having bosses (54) facing said lower face, the gap (45) between said bosses and said face being roughly equal to the thickness of an inductive card. The greater thickness of a chip-card presses down said bosses bringing about a clockwise rotation of said C-shaped arms around a fixed shaft (44), resulting in a lowering of the connection pins which touch the contact pads on the card surface.

Le relèvement et le rabaissement des broches de connexion (49) qui entrent en contact avec les plages de contact s'effectuent en reliant la plaque d'appui des broches (48) à des bras de transmission pivotants en forme de C (41, 41') dont les extrémités supérieures libres et en forme de fourche (42) sont raccordées de façon coulissante à des pivots (43, 43') fixés sur la plaque. La section inférieure des bras se prolonge parallèlement à la surface inférieure (47) de la partie supérieure (30) de la tête de lecture. Cette partie des bras comprend des saillies (54) qui font face à la surface inférieure, et l'écart (45) entre les saillies et la surface inférieure équivaut approximativement à l'épaisseur d'une carte inductive. Comme les cartes à puce sont plus épaisses, elles exercent une pression sur les saillies et font pivoter les bras, dans le sens des aiguilles d'une montre, autour d'un pivot (44), de manière à abaisser les branches de connexion pour qu'elles touchent les plages de contact sur la surface de la carte.
