Systems and methods to provide upgrade information for a computer. Detection of a current hardware configuration of the computer is facilitated by: 1) reading serial presence detect (SPD) data from the computer; 2) reading motherboard parameters from the computer; and/or 3) identifying the SPD write- protect status of the SPD chip on the computer. Detection may be facilitated by: 4) reading other OS data such as system name and/or operating system version, and/or 5) performing tests to determine certain computer characteristics such as memory utilization and/or CPU speed. The information gathered may be cross-referenced with a database of product specifications to confirm the current hardware configuration of the computer within specified parameters, which is then compared to a target hardware configuration to identify an upgrade package for upgrading the computer to the target hardware configuration. A recommendation is provided to use the upgrade package for upgrading the computer.
L'invention concerne des systèmes et des procédés fournissant une information de mise à jour pour ordinateur. On facilite la détection de configuration matérielle existante sur l'ordinateur selon les étapes suivantes: 1) lecture de données de détection de présence série sur; 2) lecture de paramètres de carte mère sur l'ordinateur; et/ou 3) identification de l'état de protection en écriture, de détection de présence série, sur la puce de détection de présence série de l'ordinateur. On peut faciliter la détection selon les étapes suivantes: 4) lecture d'autres données de système d'exploitation du type nom de système et/ou version de système d'exploitation, et/ou 5) conduite de tests pour déterminer certaines caractéristiques de l'ordinateur comme l'utilisation de mémoire et/ou la vitesse de l'unité centrale. On peut référencer l'information recueillie avec une base de données de spécifications de produits pour confirmer la configuration matérielle existante de l'ordinateur dans la limite de paramètres spécifiés, aux fins de comparaison avec une configuration matérielle cible, ce qui permet d'identifier une formule de mise à jour vers cette configuration. Une recommandation est fournie quant à l'utilisation de la formule de mise à jour pour la mise à jour de l'ordinateur.
