The window sash or door leaf described comprising corner-welded frame profiles, with a glass rebate for receiving a glass pane and with glazing bars for securing the glass pane. The glazing bars engage in latching grooves in the frame profile and, for their part, are likewise connected to form a corner-welded glazing-bar frame. A preferred process for producing said sash/leaf is carried out such that the frame profiles of the sash/leaf are latched to the glazing bars, the latch parts are then jointly mitred, corner-welded and fin- ished, whereupon the glazing-bar frame formed in this manner is separated from the sash/leaf frame. In order to facilitate separation, before welding, a release film may be introduced between the frame profiles and the glazing bars, at least in the region of the weld corners. These measures result in considerable savings in terms of work carried out, in conjunction with a precise fit and an improved corner-joint configuration of the glazing bars.
