-7- ABSTRACT A catcher's glove for use in the sport of ringette has a forearm cuff for mounting the glove on the forearm of a wearer. A flexible hand covering with a padded palm is secured to the cuff. Behind the hand covering is a backing element that is a large, oval backer with a concave front surface. The backing element is substantially larger than the hand covering so that it can be used for blocking and trapping shots with the ring. The hand covering moves independently of the backing element so that it can be used for catching, picking up and throwing the ring as necessary.
