COMPUTER INTERFACE SWITCHING DEVICE WITH PROGRAM STENCIL SHEET ABSTRACT A computer interface switching device for actuating a programmed function in the computer. The switching device comprises a housing having a switching surface on which is secured a plurality of switches arranged in a grid to coincide with a stencil element positionable over the grid. The stencil has one or more delineated switching areas aligned with one or more of the switches to permit actuation of the one or more switches aligned with the delineated areas. The switching device has a microprocessor therein to generate codes associated with the switches to commnand the computer to effect specific programmed functions. The switching device is connected between the keyboard and the display screen housing the computer and is transparent to the system. The device permits the actuation of complex command signals, otherwise requiring the review of instructions and actuation of more than one key function on the keyboard by the operator, with a single switch actuation by pressing a selected delineated switching area. - 11 -
