A method for a radiotelephone to scan for service in a radiotelephone system having a plurality of carriers within a corresponding geographic area includes establishing (202) a list of a predetermined number of carriers having the strongest signal strengths from cells proximate to the cell where the radiotelephone is camped. A next step includes determining (206) those proximate carriers from the list that are unsuitable for reselection by the radiotelephone. A next step includes scanning (208) for other suitable carriers within the area to substitute for those unsuitable carriers found in the determining step. A next step includes modifying (212) the list to include those suitable carriers found in the scanning step.
La présente invention concerne un procédé qui permet à un radiotéléphone de balayer, à la recherche d'un service, un système de radiotéléphones comprenant une pluralité de porteuses dans une zone géographique correspondante, procédé qui consiste à : établir (202) une liste d'un nombre prédéterminé de porteuses dont les signaux sont les plus forts depuis les cellules proches de la cellule dans laquelle se trouve le radiotéléphone précité ; déterminer (206) les porteuses de la liste qui ne conviennent pas à une resélection par le radiotéléphone ; balayer (208) la zone à la recherche d'autres porteuses adéquates afin de remplacer les porteuses non adéquates trouvées dans l'étape de détermination ; et enfin, modifier (212) la liste afin d'y inclure les porteuses adéquates trouvées dans l'étape de balayage.
