The invention relates to a process for the bleaching of chemical pulp, in which process the pulp is delignified with a peracid and additionally the pulp is chelated in order to bind heavy metals, such as Fe, Mn and/or Cu, into a chelate complex. According to the invention, the chelating is carried out using a chemical which has been selected from a group consisting of N-bis-((1,2-dicarboxy-ethoxy)- ethyl)-amine, N-bis-((1,2-dicarboxy-ethoxy)-ethyl)-aspartic acid and N-tris- ((1,2-dicarboxy-ethoxy)-ethyl)-amine, as well as the alkali metal and earth-alkali metal salts thereof, and the peracid and chelating treatments are carried out simultaneously by combining the peracid and the said chelating chemical in the same solution phase. In the bleaching sequence the treatment according to the invention may follow, for example, an ozone delignification and precede an alkaline peroxide step, and in the latter case a magnesium compound, such as MgSO4, may be added to the pulp before the alkali step.

Cette invention concerne un procédé permettant de blanchir de la pâte à papier chimique, lequel procédé consiste à délignifier la pâte à l'aide d'un peracide, puis à la chélater de manière à lier les métaux lourds, tel que du Fe, du Mn et/ou du Cu, en un complexe chélaté. Dans cette invention, la chélation se fait à l'aide d'un produit chimique choisi dans le groupe comprenant les éléments suivants: N-bis-[(1,2-dicarboxy-éthoxy)-éthyl]-amine, acide N-bis-[(1,2-dicarboxy-éthoxy)-éthyl]-aspartique et N-tris-[(1,2-dicarboxy-éthoxy)-éthyl]-amine, ainsi que les sels de métal alcalin ou de métal alcalino-terreux de ces derniers. Les traitements de chélation et à base de peracide se font simultanément en combinant le peracide et le produit chimique de chélation dans une même phase en solution. Lors de la séquence de blanchiment, le traitement décrit dans la présente invention peut être effectué, par exemple, après une délignification à l'ozone et avant une étape de traitement par peroxyde alcalin. Dans ce dernier cas, un composé de magnésium tel que du MgSO4 peut être ajouté à la pâte avant l'étape de traitement alcalin.
